Williams & Partners is looking for a Tax Manager who is committed to a career in taxation to join our team. As a Tax Manager, you will have the opportunity to lead and manage a variety of tax files and tax planning engagements, assisting clients, problem solving issues, train and provide advice/support to the tax team.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Work closely with Tax Partners on tax compliance, tax provision and tax advisory engagements
  • Tax lead on small and medium sized client engagements
  • Work proactively as a leader within the Tax team to ensure delivery of high-quality tax engagements
  • Review Canadian individual and corporate tax returns and other tax work prepared by staff
  • Develop an understanding of the client’s business as it relates to a particular area or assignment
  • Plan and organize the tax team as required for preparation of tax returns, and conduct, document and present tax research
  • Analyze, review and complete corporate and personal income tax returns
  • Investigate and correct discrepancies/ irregularities in financial entries, documents, and reports
  • Proactively resolve tax related issues with clients and other staff members through direct contact with them and researching and drafting responses
  • Provide daily guidance and coaching, and develop the tax knowledge of more junior tax team members
  • Be a member of the full-service team to meet the operational tax needs of our clients
  • Provide timely, high quality, exceptional service to our clients
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
  • Other tasks as assigned

As a successful candidate you possess:

  • Canadian Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) or equivalent
  • A minimum of 3 years in a similar role within public accounting.
  • Completion or near completion of the In-Depth Tax Program or Master of Taxation
  • Advanced knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act, CAS and Canadian Review Standards.
  • Extensive individual/corporate/partnership tax knowledge with a proven ability to clearly explain complex tax and business issues to clients
  • Strong self-starter with strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills.
  • Knowledge or experience with US Tax compliance is an asset
  • Proven problem solver with solid analytical skills
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to multi-task and manage a demanding workload and multiple deadlines
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to coach and develop team members
  • Proficiency in CaseWare, TaxPrep, CCH IntelliConnect, Jazz-IT and Microsoft Office
